Kudos To My Wife On A Triumphant Return

In May of 2006 my wife, Gina, entered her first triathlon. She worked really hard and successfully completed the event. The size and conditions at this triathlon weren't ideal for a first timer. But she finished and it was a life goal accomplished. She was hooked and was scheduled to compete in several more later in the year. However, just a few months later, my family was involved in an automobile accident and she sustained some serious injuries. One was a broken neck and the other was a torn up shoulder. All physical activity was put off until she could recover.

After two years of physical and mental recovery, Gina was ready to start training again. She signed up for the 4th Street Triathlon scheduled for April 26th 2008. She was very nervous, but had worked really hard to get back into the condition needed for a triathlon. I'm proud to announce she successfully completed the triathlon and did it faster than the last one she did.

I am so grateful that Gina was able to make a full recovery. Things could have been completely opposite of what they were. She is truly my hero, and an inspiration.

Must Watch Video - The Last Lecture

Last year I watched Randy Pausch give his Last Lecture, a lecture series (re-named) from people who were asked to give a lecture as if it were going to be your last. It just so happened to be Randy's. I've been very interested in his ability to remain so positive while facing certain death.

I love watching this video, and will soon be reading his book with the same title, The Last Lecture (which is sold out everywhere), as soon as my copy is shipped from Amazon.

There are only a handful of people who face the end of their life as if they have for ever to live. Randy sets a great example for everyone, sick or not. Please watch this video and get his book, and then remember to smile.

NASCAR Crash Demonstrates Focus On Safety

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series On Saturday NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Michael McDowell crashed during qualifying. While the crash looks extremely devastating, it's a testament to the focus the sport has made on driver safety.

Several years ago, NASCARS most dominant figure, Dale Earnhardt was killed in an accident similar to the one McDowell had. As you'll see from the video, McDowell had a much more positive experience.

Watch video here.

WordCamp Coming To Utah

Joseph Scott mentioned to me at PodCampSLC that he was interested in having a WordCamp here in Utah. I thought it was a fantastic idea. So over the past few weeks we've talked about it and it looks like the event is going forward.

Because this is a community event, it's important that everyone get involved early. We only have a few months to put a great camp together. Please join us on April 10th at 6:30, Applebees in Draper, for a first draft WordCamp Utah meet-up. There's a lot to cover and we need as many people as possible to help out. Let us know you're coming on upcoming.org.

Another thing we want is bloggers to present topics at WordCamp. There will be a spot on the WordCamp Utah site to register and sign up to present.

This is a great opportunity to meet other WordPress bloggers, learn more about the platform, network, and get some great ideas to succeed.
